From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a diverse cast of characters, and a gripping narrative featuring divine entities, demons, and sinister influences growing in influence within the city.
Warning: Spoilers for the latest installment of Campaign 4 are included.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The latest chapter finished on a huge suspense moment and revealed the first table of adventurers who will separate from the main group to embark on their independent quest, apart from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
With 13 cast members, it was clear from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
Hence, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Questers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who prefer a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven narrative style where peaceful solutions are scarce.
At first glance, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might seem out of place, but the events of the third episode show why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the party understands precisely where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose demise started the narrative’s action—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into the hidden lair, striking the rogue, and taking all the magical artifacts to sell off.
Casimir then paid off his debts and fled to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the urban center, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each member has a specific drive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the companion and trusted friend, wants revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the northern area and cautions that it is a hostile location.
- The strong character and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their status as key figures in the powerful family could assist the team enter areas they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, The fighter vowed a life debt to The savior for his salvation and will now go with him wherever.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are sought by the powers that govern the setting for a multiple motives, making lingering locally too risky:
- The rogue and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The healer defied the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- Teor is marked for death by the family.
This means them little choice but to journey toward the northern region in pursuit of the traitor.
Future Episodes
From the recent installment’s follow-up content, we find out that the warrior group will be absent the following episode, leaving the other eight participants to form the Explorers and Planners parties.
Fans can look forward to discovering which players will be assigned to which table in the season’s last Overture episode, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
